An ability to produce visuals of any imagined piece of furniture is a useful skill for the amateur maker and a definite advantage to a professional.
This two day intensive art course is unique, unlike traditional art courses where you might practice drawing from still life, this teaches you to sketch from your imagination.
Day one focuses on pencil and ink sketches
Ian says – “I teach simple techniques to quickly produce sketch-to-scale visuals. Starting with basic furniture forms and gradually increasing in complexity.”
Day two is all about rendering
Students select wood samples from Ian’s collection and use water colour paints to depict lifelike colours, textures and surface finishes of a proposed piece.
All materials are provided for the course and it is suitable for all, regardless of your artistic ability.
